McStay to miss 2024 season for Magpies after ACL injury in training

Collingwood has received an early blow to its campaign for back-to-back flags, with key forward Dan McStay ruled out for the 2024 season with another knee injury.

McStay missed out on the Magpies’ grand final win over Brisbane, after he suffered a high-grade medial ligament injury in his team’s dramatic one-point preliminary final victory over GWS.

McStay kicked two early goals before injuring his right knee in the third quarter and was ruled out at the final change.

After a period of rehab, the Magpies forward made his return this week as part of Collingwood’s preseason training.
