Magpies hit with major injury blow ahead of AFL preliminary final

Collingwood vice-captain Taylor Adams has been ruled out of the Magpies’ preliminary final due to a hamstring injury.

Key points:

  • Adams was injured at a Magpies’ training session on Friday
  • The Magpies described the injury as a “low-grade” strain
  • They will play either Port Adelaide or GWS in their preliminary final

Adams sustained a low-grade hamstring strain at a Friday training session.

“It’s unfortunate to confirm that Taylor Adams has sustained a low-grade hamstring strain during our training session held yesterday evening,” Magpies general manager of football Graham Wright said in a statement.

“Taylor has been an integral part of our midfield this season, and while it’s disappointing for him and the team that he won’t be available for the upcoming preliminary final, the positive is that it is only a minor strain.

“Our medical staff are working closely with Taylor who will immediately commence rehabilitation on his left hamstring.”

The Magpies will play either Port Adelaide or GWS in their preliminary final at the MCG next week.

The Power and Giants face each other in their semifinal at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening.
